The Anacondas

The Anacondas on tour again

Wow, we just came down from Queen's Day in Amsterdam. A big annual party that turns Amsterdam into a fleamarket, with bands and dee-jays making music on every corner. A day full of fun, beer and pissin' in the streets.

Mothers, lock up your daughters and daughters, lock up your mothers, 'cause The Anacondas are gonna be on tour again at the end of the week. Check the Tour Dates section for the final set dates. Some have changed since a couple of weeks, but at Tour Dates you can see the final results.
We'll bring CD's and T-shirts with us, so here's your chance to get this cool The Anacondas stuff.
The tour posters were designed by the fine folks at "Bestial Design" from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Check the Flyers section for some exotic eye candy. Bestial Design is also responsible for the excellent artwork you can see by clicking the thumbnails below.

The Anacondas would like to thank Simone, Anja, Sebastian, Heiko, Arena and Bestial Design for making this tour possible.
Read about our adventures soon on this website.

Hope to see you on the road, auf Wienerschnitzel!

The Trashmen & The Neanderthals

Last weekend we went to the Melkweg here in Amsterdam to see The Neanderthals and The Trashmen. We got in when the Phantom Four from Amsterdam played their last tune "Casbah". Later on The Neanderthals hit the stage. All dressed up like cavemen they played their swinging r&b frat rock tunes to the audience. The set included some great all time classics like 2000 Lb. Werewolf, Let's Go Where the Action Is and Go Go Yamaha. The guitarist and bass player both used longhorn type axes, but when guitar king Eddie Angel broke a string he switched to an old Fender Jazzmaster. Anyway, it was a great show.

The Trashmen are a great band from the early sixties, and they are still touring once in a while. The guitarists traded their old Jaguars for some brand new Stratocasters, and though the musicians are not that young anymore, they proved they still rock. Instrumentals like Malaguena, Baja and Miserlou still sounded sharp and their vocals on a.o. King of the Surf still sound fresh. After a crazy encore of their number one hit Surfin' Bird, together with go-go dancers The Bombshelly's and Neanderthals singer Johnny on stage, we felt very happy we were able to experience this cool surf show..

1965 Fender Jazzmaster

Since a few weeks ago, Johnny Torpedo is the proud owner of an original 1965 Fender Jazzmaster in the fabulous color "Ocean turquoise". He bought it from the previous owner Hans Bax, who has been playing Jazzmasters since the early sixties. While the rest of Holland was still wearing wooden shoes, Bax was kicking the Dutch, German and Scandinavian dance-halls with his rock 'n' roll band the Javalins from 1962 till 1965. Try to find their single "Al Capone", a great Las Vegas Grind style instrumental. Later in 1965 Hans Bax joined the famous Indo-rock band The Tielman Brothers.

Now Johnny is ready to hit the European stages with his new vintage guitar, keeping a fine Dutch rock 'n' roll tradition alive and let the cool sounds get out where it is supposed to get out: in da club!
